The land of Yera is at war. Elves and humans are once again embroiled in a fight for land as they have for countless years. None of that matters to Madison, a young girl on the verge of adulthood, struggling with her place in the world. Then a strange creature comes to her small island of Mere and tears almost everything she knows from her by decimating her home island and slaughtering her family. Bent on revenge she travels to the mainland with the help of the few friends left to her to join an army that does not even allow women who are not mages. The task is managed, but she finds herself in the worst possible place to achieve her goals. A forgotten regiment left to its own devices.
